In the business world, digital transformation is a hot topic, driven by success stories at such organizations as Netflix and General Electric's airline engine business.

"Companies are looking for ways to fundamentally change how they deliver value, how they interact with their customers, how they position themselves in the marketplace and the ... embracement of technology is one of the things that they can do," says Fortinet's Patrick Grillo.

But organizations need to do it well - including nailing cybersecurity and in particular cloud security concerns - if they want to improve profitability, crack new markets or otherwise make their digital initiative successful.

"You hope for the best if you don't get the security right," Grillo says.

In a video interview at the recent Infosecurity Europe conference in London, Grillo discusses:

  • The basics of digital transformation;
  • Lessons learned from GE and Netflix;
  • How the model can be applied to other industries.

Grillo is senior director of solutions marketing at Fortinet. Previously, he served as the international sales and marketing director for Comtech Mobile Datacom, director of sales for northern Europe at UDcast and director of the Internet Business Group at Hughes Network Systems, among other roles.
